Atlanta United FC's Academy has capped off a record-setting season with a slew of impressive wins. The club's U-16 team took home the championship at the Generation adidas Cup, while the U-13 team, made up of Atlanta United Youth Program alumni, won the MLS NEXT Cup. This achievement marks a new milestone for the club, with four teams qualifying for the MLS NEXT Cup. According to Javier Perez, Atlanta United's Director of Methodology, the Academy has exceeded his expectations. Perez credits the team's success to the data points, including individual success stories such as Cooper Sanchez, an Atlanta United Homegrown player who has become a consistent First Team starter, and Arif Kovac, who broke the MLS NEXT Pro single-match scoring record with 5 goals for Atlanta United 2. The development and placement at the professional level is encouraging to Perez and the sporting staff at the club. One of his biggest data points is the amount of international representation Atlanta United's Academy has earned, with eight of the U-16 players called up to international teams this season, along with three U-19s and more up and down the Academy.
